Q: Why do you call yourself Lysi and how do you pronounce your name?
A: Lysi is short for Lysistrata. It is pronounced liz-ee. No, it is not my real name, but it is alot cooler than my real name. Lysistrata is a literary figure, Aristophanes wrote a play about her. She was a greek woman who lived in a village where all the men where going to war. She convinced the women of the village to deny their husbands sex until they would agree to not fight the war. She stoood for feminine power and for peace, and I strongly believe in both concepts so I decided to use her name as my professional name.
Q: So... you're some sort of hippie?
A: FUCK NO! I am the farthest thing from it. All referrence to me as 'rasta', 'dreadie mama', and 'sister squirrel' will immediately cease or there will be dire consequences.

A: I'm a person... what are you? But seriously, if I were asked to lable myself I would say that I am an activist, an artist, and a feminist. Those are pretty positive labels in my opinion.

A: Contrary to popular belief that tattoo is not meant to be a portrait. It is the cover of a book called 'The Anything Box' that I found at a book stand in the Lower East Side.
